The Art of Doing Everything
My brain is over-filled with so many ideas, and it’s hard to capture all of them. I can’t even make a “to do” list of all the amazing things I want to do!
In the words of my dad (yet again) -
You can do absolutely anything you want to do, but you can’t do everything you want to do. This is the dilemma that leads to setting priorities. - Stuart F. Crump Jr.
Well, Dad, I think I will just list all the things I want to do in this newsletter. And hopefully some readers will let me know what they would like to see me accomplish.
Recently, I realized that I have 2 distinct areas to focus on - Jodi Rose Crump, Author, SubStack writer, writer, editor, copywriter.
JodiArts - artist, painter, illustrator, former cartoonist, creator, art art art art!
✅ Violin goals
In 2024 & 2025, I focused on playing violin. I achieved a long time goal - to play for a community orchestra! After our last concert of the year, I suggested several ideas - one was that we play “Rhapsody in Blue.” I love that song more than any other song in the history of music. It’s definitely my jam. I have listened to countless versions of it and I could write a whole newsletter just about “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin. If my dizzying brain reminds me, I’m sure I will write a newsletter about it in the future. That will be a fun one to read! I have so many stories to share!
Here is a video of our rehearsal from last week - for the final notes of the song!
See the Short Video on YouTube - here. It’s an “unlisted” link. Only folks who have the link will be able to see it.

I am sad to share that recently, I am in so much pain that it’s excruciatingly painful to hold up my violin. I am unable to practice. My next concert is Sunday, March 1, in Winfield, Kansas. We are playing my favorite song, at my request. I have a better than front row seat of the pianist! I am sitting 2 people away from him! I get to watch and listen to him. it’s more amazing than I could have ever imagined. So I will do what I must, to get through this concert. I may have to drop out after this concert until I can get my pain back under control. I am scared that my violin playing is coming to a close. I am also so incredibly grateful that I got to achieve a goal - being concertmaster in December. That was a huge bucket list item for me and I achieved it and succeeded!
[Me with the bright red hair, as concertmaster for our Christmas concert in December, 2025.]
It’s now 2026, and it’s the beginning of the time after I published “Write Your Own Success: Intentional Accomplishment & Happiness.” My dad wrote the first part of the book. I put in so many photos after his section. And then I wrote the second half and at the very end, I interviewed my 3 brothers (who grew up with our same dad). And I wrote their stories at the end of the book. It’s such a fun book to read. My dad’s portion is full of insight and stories. And it shows how he got cellular telephone companies to market their products so everyone would want one. That was Dad’s life goal - to get a cellphone in everyone’s life / hands. Did he succeed at his largest life goal? You tell me. ::::wink::::
Anyway, what I really want to write about today is my countless ideas that I am jumping up and down to do!
Harlequin #1 & Spoonflower
I want to turn my Harlequin #1 painting (I painted 3 of them, 2 of them are hanging in my youngest brother’s home) into a repeatable pattern and put it and variations of it on Spoonflower. Spoonflower is the largest distributor of wallpaper and patterns including cloth and other products. I think my Harlequin #1 painting would look fabulously bold in someone’s home who wants a statement spotch of color in their room. I also think it would be beautiful as a window cling, like a stained glass window. We’ll see if I figure out how to do that, too!
I ordered 10 postcards of my Harlequin #1 painting. If you’d like one, send me your name and address & I will happily send these to folks the first 10 folks who would like one! Dollar General and Walmart and other fun craft stores sell little easels. I have my postcards sitting on a cute little easel on my desk. It makes me feel happy and alive to see it there when I am sitting at my art table.
Art Galleries
I want to get my art up in public places where I can show it off for sale. I also want to thank Beth T. And Laurie E. For sending me so many wonderful and colorful art supplies! I have been having such a great time discovering my artistic side again!
I am going to be connecting with galleries to get shows of my artwork. I have done a few shows long ago, in the past, and sold artwork at them. I am looking forward to doing these again in the near future!
I spent a recent snow-filled week in the Washington, D.C. area, staying with a friend and visiting with my kids. We had a great time. My friend had years of art stacked in her dining room and a home filled with blank walls. I asked her if I could hang it up for her. It took a few days of conversations and planning, and then I was able to hang it all up in about 2 days. It brought such warmth to my soul to be able to do this for her. I have done this in the past for another friend. She was newly divorced and had art she wanted to hang up in her brand new home. She talked about where she wanted things and I went around her home and hung it all! Before that, I had done the same thing for my step-mom when she changed her room around at some point. I just asked her if she trusted me, and I hung up her artwork. She loved it! She loved where I chose to hang things and thought her room looked so much prettier and filled with a sense of home after I was done.
I love hanging artwork on walls. I love looking at beautiful artwork on walls. And I want to just share all of this with folks who would love to feel peaceful, happy, creative, colorful, filled with quiet joy in their heart when gazing at art.
My partner and I recently went to an art gallery and were less than amazed at the artwork hanging there. He said he’d rather pay $100 to go see my artwork than the far less cost this gallery had charged us to go see this other artwork. I have to admit, I would, too. Oh, I have so much to say about artwork!!
Prints of my Artwork
I want to have prints of my artwork that people can buy. There are 2 that I have found resonate the most with folks - my French Garden and my digital art still life of my pink cup with red roses. If folks would love these as prints, to brighten up any wall in their home, I would love for folks to own these pieces of art! I can’t wait to get these up and running. I’m exploring Printify as my source for printing my art. I have previously used Zazzle, but it got overwhelming. So I want to / need to redo my entire Zazzle store so it’s much more thoughtful and simplified. Right now, it’s just a cluttered mess of too many things!

Notebooks
I am launching notebooks with my art on them. I will have soft cover available on Amazon, and hard cover available on Printify. As I typed this today, a first order has come through for 2 of my notebooks! I am so excited for this friend to receive the notebooks. One is for her, and another is a gift for her daughter. I feel so grateful to be able to create beautiful things that someone can carry around with them in their life.
You can find the early release of my notebooks here: https://jodiarts.printify.me
Stickers
I am also creating stickers both on Printify. These will be short sayings that mean something to me in my own life. And I think they will resonate with others, too, so I wanted to share them. My first sticker says, “I am allowed to take up space.” That’s the era of life I am in now - learning it’s okay for me to take up space, instead of shrinking and hiding and trying to not be a burden.
On the Walls
I have hung up my artwork at my partner’s home, in addition to my own home. He has been very happy for me to hang my artwork liberally in his home! Now that it’s all hung up, I can see all the blank walls that need more paintings on them! I am so excited to be getting what I need to create paintings again!
[Far left of the photo shows my violin music stand. Left side shows my writing desk. The bulk of the photo shows my original art on canvasses. There is also an easel with 2 beginnings of new artwork being created. It’s all Art in Motion!]
A corner of the room is filling up with my creativity. I am starting to take up space, and it’s bringing me so much joy and happiness!
So, this has been where I am -
I have a website I need to create, DNS issues I need to figure out, and art to create and publish so I can sell it. I am so excited about this new chapter in my life!
Earrings
I would love to also get my artwork on dangle earrings. But I can’t find a source with a shape I like, yet. Hopefully at some point in the future! I love dangle earrings. I would love to wear my art as earrings.
Thank you for reading my newsletter. I appreciate you so much.
I know my tornado brain had so much more I wanted to share, but this is what got shared today. More to come in the future - I am positive about that!
