One of the things in my life that calls to my heart is publishing things my dad, Stuart Crump Jr., wrote. He was an incredible person.
My dad wrote reams and reams of things. He was often in USA Today, The Washington Post, a guest on talk radio stations, TV shows. He showed up one time in a History Channel documentary about technology. I recognized his back in the clip, and he was leaning over, taking a photo. I told my family, immediately, and Dad shared a photo he took of that moment with my brother who happened to be with him at that time.
When he was a kid, he loved reading the Dick Tracy cartoon by Chester Gould. Dad still loved the strip as an adult too, by the way. That cartoon strip inspired him to report about the technology that would lead to the two-way wrist-radio. Dick Tracy talked on his two-way wrist radio with his police chief. It’s probably what inspired the Apple Watch I have worn on my wrist ever since the first model came out. (Dad had sadly passed away a few months before the first one came out.)
You have probably figured out that my dad was a futurist. He loved thinking about the future. He’d been a history major in college and often said “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” He loved all of the stories throughout time - history, fiction, science fiction - stories. He loved a good story.
I opened up what I thought was a journal of his several months ago, to read it. (He wanted me to - he told me on multiple occasions that he wanted me to read them when he was gone.) It turned out to be a book he was writing. It’s a good book, too!
The book took a few turns and reminded me of a speech he used to give called, “How to Travel Through Time.” I remember seeing him give the talk one time. I wish I had paid more attention to it, but I must have tuned him out because I don’t remember much of the talk.
[the image above is a quickly done placeholder image while I sort out a real book cover.]
I went to his book, It’s Yo-Yo Time! And found a chapter with this same title! It’s a good, short book!
I have typed it up these last few weeks. And I am going to offer it for 99 cents on Amazon Kindle soon. I’m creating covers for the book, right now.
I have written a forward for the book, I’m designing the cover, and I will be writing an afterward for the book, too. One of the keys to this book will be something Dad asked for: he asked that every future book of his come with a specific letter he wrote. He kept this letter secret his whole life. I knew it existed while he was still here, but I didn’t get to read it until he died & I found it in his file cabinet. THIS BOOK will be the first place this previously-secret document will officially show up in any publication.
Would you like to know what it is, before everyone else finds out? If so:
I would LOVE to have you join my team of folks on my book launch team.
Any time I am coming out with a new book, I give the folks on my team a free digital copy of the book. I ask them to read it and then the day the book comes out on Amazon, I ask them to leave me a review.
Here is an example of a complete review:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good book.
Once a book gets 50 reviews, Amazon boosts them up to a higher category where they are SHOWN to people who search for that topic, instead of buries on page 37 where no one ever scrolls to.
Reviewing a book on Amazon is simple for you, takes very little time, and means so incredibly much to the author.
So, I am announcing this next book of mine coming out. I’m offering it to you for free. I would love to have you on my Book Launch Team. If you’re on Facebook, I will send you an invitation to my Book Launch Team group there. I don’t post much. I only post when I have new important content to share. It won’t spam your feed, I promise!
You’ll get How to Travel Through Time for FREE and all I ask is that you leave a (hopefully positive, 5 star review) the day the book comes out on Amazon. I will let you know when that will be, ahead of time, so you can plan for it.
I hope you will send me a message about joining my Book Launch Team. As soon as I am happy with the book, have had it lightly edited (typos and such taken out; because I didn’t write it - It’s Dad’s book, so I can’t really edit it or have it edited, since he isn’t around to say “yea” or “nay” to any of the edits), and I have narrowed down to a few covers, I will send it out to you for you to read & hopefully excitedly tell your friends about the book coming out, too.
Are you ready to Travel Through Time with me? I’m getting started on some of the things Dad wrote about in the book, and I bet you will have fun reading it and perhaps trying some of the things he talks about in the book. Or maybe you already do them to which I say: good for you! Way to go!
I'm excited! What an amazing project. Can't wait!
